Letter from the President

Dear Morrisville Families,

As the newly elected PTA President, I would like to welcome all of you to the 2012-13 school year at Morrisville Elementary, home of the Mustangs! I have three children, all boys! My two older boys are Morrisville alumni. Nick, 23, works at WRAL as Senior Editor for HighschoolOT.com. Jeffrey, 18, just graduated from Cary High School and will begin at NCSU in the fall. Connor, 8, will be in the third grade on Track 4. I am an advocate of year round school and believe Morrisville is the BEST elementary school in Wake County!

The purpose of the PTA is to support the teachers, staff, parents and most importantly our students! Over the years, the PTA has become one of the strongest voices in the educational process that directly supports our children and school. We are committed to continuing that this year. The PTA Board has been busy planning and developing the details for a very exciting and productive year aimed at enhancing the educational environment for all of our students!

In order to be successful and achieve our goals, it will be very important to have the support of all parents, teachers and staff, as well as the business leaders in our community. Your first opportunity to show your support will be to become a member of the PTA. I encourage each of you to show your commitment by joining! Look for us at “Meet the Teacher” on June 25 or “Open House” on July 19 and August 9 to sign-up. Your children will be proud to see their family name on the horseshoe located in the halls identifying them as PTA members! What better way to demonstrate to your children how much you value their education!

The second way to show your support will be to participate in the numerous events and programs that we have planned throughout the year. Your participation might be that of a committee member, volunteer, or merely as an attendee. Whatever level of participation you select your time and involvement will certainly be appreciated and valued by everyone, especially by your children!

You can also show your support a third way by providing us your comments regarding our PTA efforts or suggestions/ideas for other potential PTA initiatives. Please feel free to contact me at ncboysmom@aol.com or 919-272-4732.

Your PTA leaders believe that it is of ultimate importance that we do everything we can to enhance the learning environment of our children as they are our future. It will take all of us working together to ensure that this happens!

Finally, I would like to thank Beth Dalton for serving as PTA President the past 2 years. Her leadership has been outstanding!

I look forward to working with you this year to make Morrisville the school of choice for everyone!

Nurturing the Mustangs,
Julie Stevens
