President's Message

Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe that the first quarter has already come to an end. Your PTA has already been hard at work this year to make the 2009-2010 school year at MES the best it can possibly be!

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you all to become involved at Morrisville. Research has shown that no matter what a family's income is, children with involved parents are more likely to earn higher grades and test scores, pass their classes, attend school regularly, have better social skills, and go on to postsecondary education. Also, becoming a member of the PTA will not only establish you within a network of information, but also give you a voice in making decisions for your child, for our school, and its numerous activities. As a volunteer, you will help create a close community of families making MES a wonderful place to learn.

Our PTA provides many avenues for your child to excel. Some of our activities and committees include Cultural Arts, Advocacy/Legislative issues, Classroom Volunteers, Character Education, Membership and Directory, Science Fair, Science-go-Round, Staff Appreciation and Hospitality, Odyssey of the Mind, Science Kits, Fund-Raising, Parent Education, Health and Safety, Literacy Night and Book Fair, Campus Beautification, PTA Reflections Contest, Yearbook, and Technology just to name a few. I am confident that you can find an area of interest at MES to become involved in to help enrich our school and the lives of our children. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the executive committee for more information on any of these activities or committees.

We have approximately 750 students in MES. MES PTA membership goal for this year is one membership for each child. Family membership is only $10 and single membership is $8. It is not too late to join the PTA and make sure your voice is heard!

Lastly, I would like to thank you all for your support for MES and the PTA. I look forward to working with you ALL this year as you become involved with your child's education. Remember you will be making special memories for both you and your child that will last a lifetime.

Welcome Parents

On behalf of the PTA, I'd like to welcome you to Morrisville Elementary and wish you a wonderful school year, whether you are returning to Morrisville or if this is your first year. I'm looking forward to another exciting school year and I am sure you are too!

YOUR PTA at Morrisville is very active and I'd love to invite you to join us and become involved. Studies show that children achieve at much higher levels when their parents are involved in their education. One way to get actively involved in your child's education is to join our Award-Winning PTA!

To get started, there is one VERY important PTA document we'd like for you to complete! Please fill out the PTA Membership/Donation/Directory Inclusion Form as soon as possible. I am excited to announce that, for the first time this year; we are offering our PTA Membership/Donation/Directory Inclusion Form as an online service. So, please, "GO GREEN" and complete your membership form online or if you prefer, simply fill out the paper form and return it to your child's teacher, or to the membership table at "Meet the Teacher Day" or "Open House". As a PTA member, you will receive a vote at PTA meetings and you will also receive a complimentary school directory.

If you are employed at a company that provides matching funds, please provide us with the correct paperwork to facilitate that process. Remember, it could double your contribution! *If you are an IBM Employee, you may choose to donate to the IBM Gift Matching Program instead. The contact for this program is Louise Gregory at gregory_lou@yahoo.com. If you wish to participate in the IBM Gift Matching Program, please do not make a donation payable to Morrisville Elementary PTA; instead, contact Louise to make sure your donation is optimized.

In closing, I'd like to ask you to be more than a member of the PTA. I'd like to challenge you to review, complete, and return the enclosed (pink) volunteer interest sheet and join at least one committee this year. Be assured, that you will gain much more than you receive by becoming an active participant in your child's education.
